Project Summary
The unique collaboration of two creative power houses in the surfing world. With Chris's stunning photography and Album Surf's insane craftsmanship, we created pieces of art that could both function in and out of the water.
CHRIS BURKARD X ALBUM SURF
The Icelandic River Collection, a Chris Burkard and Album Surf collaboration. A crossover between surf sculpture and aerial photography curated in the purest form of craftmanship and function. Extended travel. Extreme weather. Enduring nights. The sacrifices are real, and the views are unreal. Introducing Icelandic glacial rivers aerially captured by Chris Burkard, carefully composed on the canvas of an Album surfboard.
GRID AND PARALLAX LAYOUT
The overall grid and parallax layout is intended to nod at the use of layers found in Icelandic glacial rivers as well as the layers of foam and resin within the surfboard. The culmination of all these layers show the elegance and quality of this collaboration.
COLOR
We chose colors that unified both brands as well as created a clean and simple canvas so that the glacial river imagery would be the focal point.

TYPOGRAPHY
We wanted a elegant serif font contrasted with a modern san serif to elude to the combination of fine art nostalgia and modern surf-craft.
BOARD IDENTITY
Each board is carefully composed with a photo laminate of aerial captured images. Each of these images were taken from three unique rivers in Iceland. Their identity derives from the name of the river in the Icelandic language.
